C/ENS Christina Bissonnette distinguished herself by successfully applying for and winning the 2026 Commander, Naval Air Forces Private Pilot Scholarship Program. From a highly competitive pool of more than 200 Navy and Marine Corps JROTC cadets nationwide, she was selected as one of only 14 cadets, an achievement that reflects her academic excellence, perseverance, and commitment to personal and professional growth.
During the summer of 2026, C/ENS Bissonnette will attend an intensive eight-week collegiate academic and flight training program, which includes rigorous weekend training. The scholarship fully covers room and board, round-trip airfare, collegiate academic coursework, and the required flight hours to earn a Private Pilot License, providing a rare and prestigious opportunity within the NJROTC program.
In addition to her aviation accomplishments, C/ENS Bissonnette maintains a 4.0 unweighted grade point average and is ranked 9th out of 416 students in her graduating class. Her outstanding academic performance exemplifies her discipline, time-management skills, and never-quit attitude.
Senior Naval Science Instructor CDR Peter Bissonnette, USN (ret) commended C/ENS Bissonnette for her dedication and determination, stating that “she is an amazing young lady and her perseverance and tenacity are inspiring. We are proud to have her in SRHS NJROTC and I’m excited to see what she chooses to do with her life after high school.”
Through her academic excellence, resilience, and commitment to service, Cadet Ensign Christina Bissonnette has distinguished herself as a role model within the Sebastian River High School Navy JROTC program and is highly deserving of recognition as MOAA Cadet of the Month.
Cadets of the Month are selected during the months of academic year beginning in September and ending in April. Cadets are selected based on demonstrated leadership potential, dedication to the Navy JROTC program, and positive example set for other cadets.
