MSgt Michael Hussey USMC (Ret)
MSgt Hussey is a native of Jersey City, NJ. He graduated from the American Military University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Homeland Security in 2014.
In June of 1990, MSgt Hussey arrived at MCRD Parris Island, SC. Upon completion of boot camp he reported to the School of Infantry for training as a rifleman. Upon completion of training, LCpl Hussey reported to Marine Corps Security Force Regiment for Marine Security Guard training. Upon graduation he reported to Marine Corps Security Force Company, Naval Weapons Station Earle in Colts Neck, NJ. While there, he served as Corporal of the Guard, Sergeant of the Guard and Entry Control Point NCO. In April of 1993 Cpl Hussey reported to Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines for duty as Squad Leader and Platoon Sergeant completing three Western Pacific (WestPac) deployments and participating in Operations Iron Magic and Southern Watch. In June of 1997 Sgt Hussey reported to MCRD San Diego for duty as a Drill Instructor with Fox Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, where he trained more than 1200 recruits to become basically trained Marines.
Upon completion of Drill Instructor duty SSgt Hussey reported to Ground Sensor Platoon, 3rd Intelligence Battalion, Okinawa Japan for duty as Platoon Sergeant and Company Gunnery Sergeant. While there, SSgt Hussey participated in multiple joint operations with the South Korean, Philippines, Thailand and Cambodian forces, such as Ulchi Freedom Guardian 01/02, Cobra Gold 2000/01/02, Balikatan 01/02, and two SME exchanges in 01/02. Upon completion of his tour SSgt Hussey reported to Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center for duty as Platoon Sergeant, Company Gunnery Sergeant and Platoon Commander. While there he participated in three combat deployments and Operations Vigilant Response and Phantom Fury. In November of 2006 Gunnery Sergeant Hussey reported to 4th Anti-Terrorism Battalion for duty as Operations Chief.
In June of 2009 Gunnery Sergeant Hussey reported to 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines, 9th Marine Regiment in Camp Lejeune, NC. for duty as Company Gunnery Sergeant and Operations Chief. While there he participated in two combat deployments. In June of 2011 Master Sergeant Hussey reported to III MEF, Okinawa Japan for duty as Current Operations Chief. While there, MSgt Hussey participated in Operation Tomadachi, Operation Damayan, Philippine Bilateral Exercise (Phiblex) and multiple other joint exercises in Thailand, Philippines, South Korea, Cambodia, Indonesia, Australia, Singapore and mainland Japan
In April of 2012 MSgt Hussey was selected to serve as an Individual Augment in the United Arab Emirates as an Instructor/Trainer to the Emirate Presidential Guard. While there MSgt Hussey taught mulitple classes on infantry tactics, Combat Operations Center procedures, Quick Reaction Force (QRF) techniques, tactics and procedures, beach defense, fires and command and control. Upon return from the UAE MSgt Hussey reported to Alpha Company, Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team for duty as the Operations Chief.
MSgt Hussey retired from the Marine Corps on November 30, 2015.
MSgt Hussey's personal decorations include the Combat Action Ribbon, Humanitarian Service Medal (Bronze Star in lieu of 2nd award), Navy Commendation Medal (Gold Star in lieu of 2nd award), Navy Achievement Medal (3 Gold Stars in lieu of 4th award), and numerous unit commendations and awards.
MSgt Hussey is married to the former Angela Carr.
